Kukkuteswara Swamy Temple

The Sri Kukkuteswara Swamy Temple is the presiding Shiva temple of Pithapuram and the primary Bhairava deity of the Puruhutika Shaktipeeth. Built in the Chalukyan architectural style, this ancient temple enshrines a self-manifested (swayambhu) Shivalingam that is believed to have been worshipped since before recorded history.

Darshan at this temple is the auspicious starting point for all ritual pilgrims at Pithapuram. The temple is open from 5:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Shri Puruhutika Devi — 10th Shakti Peetha

Shri Puruhutika Devi is one of the 18 Maha Shakti Peethas and the 10th among the 51 Shakti Peethas. The left hand of Goddess Sati fell at this sacred location when Lord Vishnu dismembered her body.

Visiting Puruhutika Devi is especially significant for families performing ancestral rituals, as the combined energy of the Shakti Peetha and Vishnu Pada at Pithapuram is said to create an unparalleled spiritual field.

Sripada Srivallabha Mahasamstanam

Sripada Srivallabha (1320–1351 CE) is revered as the first complete avatar of Lord Dattatreya in the Kali Yuga. Born in Pithapuram, He displayed miraculous powers from childhood.

The Mahasamstanam at His birthplace in Pithapuram is a major pilgrimage destination for Dattatreya devotees.
